Local and European elections 4th June 2009

Have you voted today? In Local and European Elections?

Every year MEPs get more than £400,000 in salary, pension benefits and expenses without having to do anything so boring as produce a single receipt. We have to pay to be in Europe. That money could be going to something more useful like hospitals and for people who really need it like the old people who are dying when it is cold.

The people in power are not listening because they no longer care what the people want. We have to make them listen.

The EU needs to be brought to account before it is too late. This is why the elections today are so important. They are our last opportunity to bring the EU under control and prevent the continuing takeover by an arrogant, greedy, unaccountable, self-serving elite. The EU needs to change. We have to go out and vote on June 4.

European Union controls our lives, and how remorselessly it is increasing its control, without any democratic debate, or effective opposition. We are no longer an independent country.

EU membership costs every Briton £873 a year, Britain has given nearly £200 billion to the EU since we joined and in 2007, we need out.

Britain does not need Europe, we have just joined by default. Most Europeans don't even consider us as part of it; Britain is the absent country of the EU and personally I am proud of that fact. It's about time we saved the £55bn for our own country and develop our already strong relationships with America and the Commonwealth even further. Britain can still be sufficient with her English and Commonwealth markets.
